Brooklyn Nets v Cleveland Cavaliers

NBA Regular Season

The Brooklyn Nets will look for a beat-down on the Cleveland Cavaliers when the teams meet in an NBA Regular Season clash at the Barclays Center in New York City on Sunday 16 May 2021.

The Nets have already secured a berth in the Playoffs and will be relieved at having snapped a four-game losing streak (their longest of the season) this past weekend. Brooklyn came from as many as 21 points down to defeat the Denver Nuggets 125-119, with coach Steve Nash happy to see his team have to dig deep – something they’ll surely need to do in the business end of the campaign.

“I'm happy for us to be uncomfortable right now," Nash said. "I'm happy for us to struggle and suffer. I'm glad we won, but suffering and building that resolve and that understanding and that we don't have that common experience, so these experiences when we're on the mat are good for us, and I think our guys responded tonight. But I'm also OK with us suffering and being uncomfortable.”

The Cavaliers, meanwhile, have almost nothing to play for. Cleveland will finish outside the top 10 in the Eastern Conference and miss the Play-in tournament. Only the pride of avoiding a bottom-of-the-log finish will be driving them in this clash.

With the NBA season well underway, each team will look to book their positions in the playoffs and ultimately win the coveted NBA Championship ring. Make your predictions for free today and you could win your share of USh1,500,000.

“We fought like hell and I’m appreciative of their effort,” Cavaliers coach J.B. Bickerstaff said of a 111-102 defeat at the hands of the Indiana Pacers this past weekend. “We had a number of guys carry the load for us like Bull (Sexton), D-Wade and Isaac the whole time. It was all heart and all strength.”

In head-to-head stats, the Nets and the Cavaliers have met in 183 Regular Season games since 1976-77, with Cleveland claiming 104 wins compared to 79 for Brooklyn. The teams last met in the Regular Season in January 2021, with the Cavaliers claiming a 125-113 win thanks to 25 points from Collin Sexton.
