Betway Power remained on course to reach a fourth National Basketball League (NBL) playoff final in six seasons after dispatching JKL Dolphins in their best of three quarterfinal series.
Betway Power won 72-64 at YMCA Court on Sunday evening to clinch the series 2-1.
They were dominant in the opening series game, winning 74-35 before JKL forced a decisive game three with a 75-64 victory on Friday.
But while they did not replicate the intensity of game one, the Arnold Lando and Boniface Okello did just enough to progress keeping JKL at arm’s length after the latter won the first quarter 18-12.
Betway Power then used a 25-13 second quarter run to take a 37-31 half time lead that they never relinquished and included taking a 54-42 advantage going into the final quarter.
They will play UCU Canons who clinched a 2-0 series win over KCCA with a59-56 result on Saturday.
The Canons who clinched the regular season top spot prevailed after a 21-5 strong fourth quarter run that ended KCCa's challenge.
David "Dikong" Kongor Deng led the Nicholas Natuhereza coached Canons with 22 points and 10 rebounds.
The pair are joined by City Oilers and Warriors who will meet for the first time in the playoffs since the former debuted in 2013.
The Oilers had Landry Ndikumana and veteran Stephen Omony step up with 18 and 17 points respectively to set up a convincing 85-58 result that sealed a 2-1 series win.
The Warriors on the other hand held off a Sudi Ulanga-inspired late challenge to win game three 62-55 and book their semifinal slot.
The KIU guard scored 10 of his 14 points in the fourth quarter but was the only Titan to reach double figures on the day.
Warriors had no such scoring problems on the day with Mike Buzangu, and Stanley Mugerwa reaching double figures with 13 points each while Chris Omanye added 10.
Mugerwa added 14 rebounds for Warriors who lead by as many as 17 points at the start of the second quarter.
