Betway Power were slated to play Namuwongo Blazers on Sunday in their sixth game of the regular season.
However, due to reported cases of COVID-19 in the team’s camp, the game was postponed until further notice to combat the spread of the deadly virus.
The game on Sunday was supposed to be Bernice Ankunda’s first after taking over from Arnold Lando to save the situation.
The postponement will also buy the coach some time with the players.
The three-time league winner had only had two training sessions with the team before Sunday and will probably get a few more sessions before his first game.
Power are yet to win any game this season and are the only team with a 0-5 record going into the final bend of the shortened regular season.
His immediate target will be to steady the ship by winning some games to get off the base of the log.
“We have to win games. It won’t matter how,” Ankunda said after his appointment.
“We have players who can do the job and we will have to address a few issues,” he added.
The arrival of centre Saidi Amisi and guard Brian Waters adds some quality and experience to a predominantly young side.
New recruit Salim Kisulu has been the team’s main source of points in the first five games but Ankunda must find more sources to have the team get results.
Depending on how results are elsewhere, three wins might be enough for Power to sneak into the playoffs but Ankunda is looking at one game at a time.
“We have to look at each game independently and try to win it. We shall see where we are at the end of the season,”
Blazers, KCCA Panthers, UCU Canons, and Falcons are the teams remaining on Power’s schedule and each is now a must-win.
