In this trying time of the coronavirus crisis, online gaming company Betway’s care has come in handy for Uganda in different capacities.
First, Betway Uganda country director Adellah Nyaruhuma handed over a food donation of 3.3 tonnes of rice to the government task force head Hon. Mary Karooro Okurut.
Of this, 300kg would go to sports scribes under umbrella body Uganda Sports Press Association.
On Thursday, the country’s leading online gaming company announced it would extend a financial boost to assist its partner assets.
Three clubs Express Football Club in the Uganda Premier League (UPL), Betway Kobs from the Nile Stout Rugby League and Betway Power of the National Basketball League will receive a $4000 (about Shs15m) package to share from Betway.
“As a club, we extend our appreciation to Betway for the gesture,” remarked Express FC CEO Hamza Jjunju. “This is a great push and an addition to what express FC has been extending to players,” he said.

Express has not kicked a ball in the UPL since beating Maroons 1-0 on March 5. The Red Eagles are on level with Onduparaka on 31 points but lie ninth with five matches left to wrap up the season.
Uganda is on lockdown with sports events banned since March 18 to stop the spread of the pandemic.
“This goes a long way in making sure players have enough especially at their homes creating comfort for them to easily for guidelines already outlined by the government to stay home and be safe,” said Jjunju.
