Betway Kobs pummelled title challengers Black Pirates 25-05 in the Mileke 7s final to take firm control in the race.

Tries from Adrian Kasito (2), Norbert Okeny (2) and Aaron Jurua were just enough to earn Kobs their third victory from the first four circuits.

Desire Ayera scored the consolation try for Pirates as they fell to Kobs for the third time this season.

Davis Kiwalabye's side were in fine form from the start of the tournament, easing past all their opponents in the group games.

Plascon Mongers and Toyota Buffaloes were the victims at the quarter and semi final stage.

With four circuits left on the calendar, the Betway sponsored side find themselves close to stripping Pirates of the National Sevens crown.

The Legends outfit have so far won the Mileke 7s, Buffalos 7s, Rujumba 7s while Pirates took the inaugural Buddu 7s in Masaka.

Kobs, now on 85 points, lead the way and extend their lead to 6 points.

Pirates continue to do the chasing in second place with 79 points.

The Series return to the Legends grounds in two weeks time for the Coronation Sevens hosted by Rhinos RFC.

Jinja, Mbale will host the other legs before the finale hosted by Kobs at Legends.
