Betway Kobs want sevens title

If there is a team that has prepared for this year’s national sevens championship, it is Betway Kobs.
The Legends side has been in training for the showpiece with most of the senior players involved in a bid to defend the title.
The 2017 showpiece is a fortnight away but players like Joseph Aredo, James Ijongat and Davis Kiwalabye have all been putting in work to ready themselves to challenge for the title when the time comes. Kobs ended a nine-year jinx and won the Sevens title in 2015 before defending it last year. A 3-peat will sound good for the men-in-blue.

Over the weekend, Kobs took their preparations to Namilyango College, where they played out a 32-17 win over the National Schools League champions in a 15-aside game. Namilyango has for long fed Kobs with players because of the close relationship between the two institutions.
Rugby Cranes captain Brian Odongo, Justin Kimono, Jude Juuko, Timothy Mudoola, Edmond Tumusiime and Brian Asaba are some of the names that graduated from Namilyango to the Kobs team.  “We have to be fully fit if we are going to compete and win the title,” Kobs 7s captain Joseph Aredo revealed.
Kobs are also using the training sessions to give some of the younger players a chance to play and gain experience before the season.
There will be six circuits in as many weeks this year. Kyadondo, Jinja Dam Waters, Gulu, Makerere and Legends will all host the event.
Legends, home to Kobs and Pirates, will host two circuits because the two sides both have a circuit to host.
