Betway Kobs remained top of the Nile Special Premiership after a 30-29 win over stubborn Plascon Mongers at Legends over the weekend.
Having defeated challengers Hima Cement Heathens the previous weekend, Kobs encountered yet another tough hurdle in the race to the championship.
Fred Mudoola’s charges found themselves in a position of having to fight back from down to snatch the game out of Mongers' hands.
Kobs had a good start with fly-half James Ijongat twice converting for an early 06-00 lead.
Mongers relied on their heavy pack to destabilise the hosts and it was not long before veteran Andrew Olweny forced his way over for the game's first try.
Adrian Wasswa converted to give visitors the lead and send Legends into celebration and panick at the same time.
With title rivals Heathens comfortable winners against Rhinos, Kobs couldn't afford to slip.
Mongers played well until they tried to take the ball out wide to the back line.
On one occasion they lost possession in the midfield as Ian Munyani intercepted and raced over for Kobs' first try of the game. Ijongat converted for a 13-07 lead.
Kobs stretched the lead as Conrad Mukwaya finished from a combination of Davis Kiwalabye, Ijongat and Adrian Kasito. Ijongat converted and Kobs lead 20-07.
A couple of tries from Mongers' lock Joachim Kisanda got the visitors back into the game as the score read 20-19 going into halftime.
Second half substitute Faraj Odugo scored twice while Mongers' Hannington Mukalazi went over with Adrian Wasswa converting and adding a penalty from the halfway line for the game to end 30-29.
