Betway Kobs run over Rhinos

Betway Kobs won their seventh straight game when they pummelled Rimula Rhinos 42-10 at Legends Saturday evening. Davis Kyewalabye’s charges were ruthless as they registered yet another bonus point win in their quest for the league title.

Brian Asaba crossed the white line early on and his try was converted by Ivan Kirabo for a 7-0 lead. Aaron Jurua also dashed and went over to stretch the lead to 12-0.

There was a disallowed try from lock Emanuel Ecodu with the linesman spotting infringement before the big man crossed the chalk.

Justin Kimono got one before Asaba completed his brace for Kobs to go into the halftime break leading 22-00. Rhinos pulled one back after restart but winger Keith Seruyange was quick to respond to reopen a 22-point difference.

Kirabo, Daniel Ortega and Faragi Odugo all went over for the Legends outfit to complete another good day in office. Kobs played without their players who are part of the Uganda Sevens team to take part in the challenger series in South America.

Pius Ogena, Ian Munyani, Adrian Kasito and Nobert Okeny were all missing in action. The win helped Kobs close the gap on Heathens back to four points.

The defending champions had gone nine points clear following a Friday night bonus point win over the Toyota Buffaloes.  Kobs are now on 34 points, 10 ahead of second placed Pirates and will be looking to keep the pressure on Heathens.

The Uganda Cup and national sevens defending champions take on Jinja Hippos on Saturday to complete their first round fixtures.
