Betway Kobs’ players keen on fitness

The Nile Stout Rugby League would be coming to a wrap this weekend with the Betway Kobs set to visit Buffaloes at Kyadondo.

But that is not the case because of the coronavirus pandemic which has forced suspension of sports events in the country since March 18.

Uganda, like many other countries, is on lockdown with a recent extension of 21 days until May 5.

Even with no activity, Kobs’ coaching staff are however keen of players’ fitness. “It is more of individual programs that are being used,” says full-back Joseph Aredo.

“They can’t really be monitored well but will be tested on return.” Sportsmen around the country are improvising on ways of keeping fit during the lockdown.

“I have been doing walks,” Aredo notes, “And home fitness workouts mainly agility, core and power. So they will test during the restart of the league,” he added.

Before the status quo changed, Kobs had collected 58 points and comfortable in second place on the 10-team log.

They are however still five points behind log leaders Heathens while Pirates are 10 points adrift in third place with five matches to play.
