Betway Kobs out to defend Sevens Title

Betway Kobs will start their national sevens title defence on enemy territory as Hima Cement Heathens host the first event of the national sevens season. With the Rugby Africa Gold Cup campaign coming to an end last weekend, all the attention will now turn to the national sevens season that kicks off this Saturday at Kyadondo Rugby Grounds.
Kobs have had adequate preparations and will be hoping to start the season with a win.
"It is important that we start strong and that will be out aim," Kobs sevens captain Joseph Aredo revealed ahead of the campaign.
On Wednesday, Uganda Breweries under their flagship brand, Guinness, announced a 200M UGX sponsorship to the sevens games for the next three years.
The six-week event is set to cover more ground this year with Gulu set to host one of the circuits.
The Graveyard, Makerere and Gulu will host one circuit each while Legends, home to Pirates and Kobs, will host two events.

All the ten teams of the top flight league are set to compete with two teams receiving invites to every event.
The men’s winner this Saturday will take home Shs1.5M from host club Kyadondo.
The women’s competition will attract upto four teams this season.
After the circuit at Kyadondo, Kobs will have their eyes set on the Jinja sevens event that they won last year.
Heathens won the Kyadondo tournament last year and will be Kobs' biggest challengers.
Uganda to host Africa Cup
Meanwhile, Uganda will host this year’s Africa Sevens Cup in Kampala and Legends Rugby Grounds won the bid to host the event slated for October.
Uganda won the trophy hosted in Nairobi last year and will be hoping to defend it on home soil.
