Betway Kobs Lead Table Going Into Christmas Break

After defeating Shell Rimula Rhinos 31-17 on Saturday, Betway Kobs will go into the Christmas break with a clear view of the table from the table.

From the second week of the campaign when they defeated Jinja Hippos 14-71 at Dam Waters, Ronnie Lutakome's charges have been at the summit of the ten team log. Even with a seemingly depleted side at the start of the season, Kobs has had a walk in the park this far, winning all their five games with a bonus point. Now on 25 points from five games, the Legends outfit top the table with five games left in the first round. Alhadji Manano (2), Brian Odongo and Justin Kimono all got onto the score sheet to ensure the side registered another big win over fancied Rhinos.

The league will take a two-weeks break and the Blue army will hope to start from where they stopped when action returns. “It is still early and we want to keep working hard because there are tough games ahead,” Kobs captain Bryan Asaba revealed ahead of the break. When action resumes, games against Plascon Mongers, Buzz Pirates and defending champions Hima Cement Heathens will await the log leaders.

While Kobs were defeating Rhinos on Saturday, Heathens were registering their first win in four outings to go into the break with two wins and three losses. Having lost Consecutive games against Pirates, Buffaloes and Rhinos, Heathens needed to bounce back and a 22-10 win was just enough at Makerere. Having lost points to Mongers in a boardroom decision, Pirates destroyed Toyota Buffaloes 45-11 at Kyadondo to keep Kobs within touching distance. Timothy Kisiga crossed the white chalk thrice while Isaac Massa and Richard Odekere also touched down.

Saturday results

Rhinos 17-31 Kobs
Rams 10-22 Heathens
Buffaloes 11-45 Pirates
Mongers 51-3 Hippos
