Betwaty Kobs face Jinja Hippos in final first round clash

Betway Kobs have been in top form since their loss to Hima Cement Heathens at the start of the season.

The side has won seven games since and will now be looking to make it eight in a row when they face Jinja Hippos at Legends on Saturday.

Davis Kyewalabye and his charges will know that a bonus point win keeps Heathens within touching distance going into the second round.

The Uganda Cup and National Sevens winners are four points behind the table leaders but will take confidence from their previous performances.

Kobs play will still have to do without the players who are part of the Uganda Sevens team to take part in the challenger series in South America.

Pius Ogena, Ian Munyani, Adrian Kasito and Nobert Okeny are all away on national duty.

The trio of Ogena, Kasito and Munyani is a big part of the Kobs’ team and command starting places.

The Legends outfit has, however, relied on their depth this season with various options available for selection in their absence.

Josiah Ssempeke, Edgar Sseruwagi, Keith Seruyange and Daniel Ortega all available for selection.

Kobs are now on 34 points, 10 ahead of second placed Pirates and will be looking to keep the pressure on Heathens.

The other games will see bottom side Makerere Impis playing Rams at Kyadondo Rugby Grounds.

The university side are still without a win and occupy the last position on the log.

Defending champions Heathens take on Rimula Rhinos and will be looking to finish the first round top of the log.

Plascon Mongers will be at Legends to face Warriors while Black Pirates and Toyota Buffaloes clash in the Friday night encounter at Kyadondo.
