Betway Kobs defeat Rams to go top


Betway Kobs made light work of  Mulago Rams over the weekend to ascend to the top of the league log.

In an early kick off encounter at Legends, the Blue Army registered a 78-06 victory to collect maximum points and leapfrog Hima Cement Heathens to the top of the table.

Even after Heathens' 18-15 win over Black Pirates, a superior points difference kept Kobs on top. Justin Kimono and Adrian Kasito were once again in fine form for Fred Mudoola's charges.

The victory left Kobs level on 55 points with Heathens with the Uganda Cup winners carrying a superior points difference to go top.

Heathens completed the double over Black Pirates in an 18-15 victory at Kyadondo Rugby Club.

Tries from Haruna Muhammad, Conrad Wanyama were not enough for Pirates as two late penalties by Simon Okwera gave Heathens the win.

Heathens' tries came in similar fashion with Paul Masendi found space at the wing to cross the white chalk twice.

Now tied on 55 points, Kobs and Heathens can be separated this coming weekend when the face each other at Legends Rugby Club.

Heathens recovered from a 12-00 deficit to win the first round meeting and Kobs will have revenge on their minds when the two clash.

In other games played, Buffaloes defeated Plascon Mongers 29-17 in the first game at Kyadondo. Jinja Hippos' good run in the second round continued with a 35-20 win over Shell Rimula Rhinos. It was their fourth win of the season.

DusuPay Warriors got back to winning ways in a 43-21 victory over relegation threatened Walukuba Barbarians.
