Betway Kobs avenged their first round loss to Hima Cement Heathens with a 26-21 victory at Legends over the weekend.
The win improved Kobs' chances of winning the title as it took them 3 points clear of their challengers.
As was the case in the first round clash at Kyadondo, Fred Mudoola's charges dominated the first forty minutes of the game while Heathens applied pressure in the second.
The visitors had the chance to score the first points of the game from a penalty but Simon Okwera forgot his kicking boots across the road.
When Kobs turn to attack came, centers Ian Munyani and Edgar Sseruwagi combined and the inside center crossed the white line.
Scrum half Davis Kiwalabye added another try and these were converted by eventual man of the match Joseph Aredo.
The hosts went into the halftime break leading 20-03 and Heathens had themselves a mountain to climb in the second period.
Heathens made changes in the second half and would attempt a comeback albeit in vain.
Cox Muhigwa went over for the visitors to set up a tense finale to the clash.
He would later cross the line twice to complete his hat trick but the hole was too deep for Heathens to come out.
Majority of the second half action was in the Kobs' half but when they crossed over, Heathens were twice penalised and Aredo made no mistake with the two penalties.
The 2016 champions held on for victory to condemn their rivals to a first defeat of the campaign.
There were injury concerns for team captain Brian Asaba and winger Justin Kimono and the two were replaced by Timothy Mudoola and Adrian Kasito respectively.
With the win, Kobs are now on 59 points, three more than Heathens in second place at 56.
