Betway Kobs Beat Heathens, Rhinos Tame Pirates

The National Rugby League title will not belong to anyone yet. Buzz Pirates went into last weekend with the hope of opening their champagne bottles but Shell Rimula Rhinos ensured there was no party.

Ivan Makmot's second-half penalty subjected Pirates to their first defeat on the pitch this season and this means the Sea Robbers will have to wait another two weeks to seal the league title.

Man of the match Martial Chumkam put in a huge load of work and later attributed it to the faith kept in him by the team.

The prop has missed some of the league action this term as he had returned home (Cameroon) to check on his sick father.

The game marked the return to action of Marvin Odong but with some of the Pirates' key players missing, Rhinos held on for a win.

Pirates will still have a chance to wrap up their maiden league title when they visit Jinja Hippos in their next game.

Conrad Mukwaya played his best game in a Betway Kobs jersey as he scored eight of Kobs' eleven points in the win over rivals Hima Cement Heathens.

The back scored the only try of the game as Kobs led 5-0 at halftime.  Heathens recovered as Aaron Wanyoto converted two penalties for the visitors to lead at Legends.

Mukwaya stepped up to split the posts from a penalty to win it for the Legends side.
