Betway assets to wait a little longer for activity

Online gaming company Betway Uganda’s three assets will have to wait a little longer for activity to resume following a revelation by President Yoweri Museveni.

Museveni said during his 14th State address of the country’s lockdown that sports will wait for another 21 days beginning May 20.

The extension of the lockdown means Express Football Club in the Uganda Premier League, basketball league outfit Betway Power and the Betway Kobs from the Nile Stout Rugby League will have waited for 83 days.

Sport in the country has been suspended since March 18 and when the two-week extension expires on Tuesday, the sector will have sat out for 62 days.

Express was ninth on the UPL charts with 31 points before the league was called off. Their last outing was a 1-0 win over Maroons on March 5.

Betway Power was due to tip-off in the NBL which now could its regular season trimmed to one round rather the usual two.
