Bbosa backs Express Walusimbi captaincy decision

Express head coach Wasswa Bbosa takes pride in his knowledge of domestic league players.

The  former Cranes international has been actively involved in coaching for a period spanning two decades and was also assistant to Sam Simbwa when the club won their last league title eight years ago.

So despite a huge turnover of players that includes up to 15 new signings ahead of the upcoming season, Bbosa was never going to find it difficult identifying his next captain.

The club on Tuesday announced Enock Walusimbi who moved from Bright Stars at the end of the season as club captain replacing Disan Galilwango who left the club this off-season.

"I know the ability of all the players we've signed. I have worked with some of them before but also closely followed progress of the new ones who have now joined us," Wasswa Bbosa said about the several incoming players before zeroing down on Walusimbi.

"Enock Walusimbi has been a captain everywhere he’s played a feat that speaks volumes about his leadership qualities. The technical team therefore felt the need to select him,” Bbosa revealed.

During his time at Bright Stars, Walusimbi showed versatility comfortably playing across all four defensive positions as well as in midfield.

He will be deputised by goalkeeper Mathias Muwanga one of the remaining players from last season's squad and youngster Desmond Kaneene as the third choice captain.

The latter captained the junior team and was promoted to the senior team at the start of last season.
