Abby Bagalana is seeking to uplift his pro golf career when he features at the Ivory Coast Open this week.
He will be the only Ugandan who features at the event that runs from April 21-24 at the Yamoussoukro Club following an invite from the Ivory Coast Golf Federation president Kouakou Koffi.
Bagalana will contest for the biggest share of the 38000 Euros’ kitty and this comes almost a month after he won his first pro tournament the Captain’s Prize at the Uganda Golf Club (UGC) in Kitante.
“Well I’m going for a win,” he said. The Uganda Golf Club (UGC) member is also feeling his game is on the right wavelength.
“I am swinging very well of late if you have been following my games,” he added.
Bagalana will play his first pro event outside East Africa thanks to UGC member Andrew Opio of Spring Spa and Lounge who financed his trip.
“I occasionally facilitated the professional golfers until the 2019 Uganda Open when I offered a full package to eight amateurs and for sure, I was not disappointed by the performance,” said Opio, a handicap four-player.
“When Abby came to me with the Ivory Coast invite, we discussed the same and I chose to facilitate his travels.”
“It means a lot to me because, in this era, not many are not willing to support you because of the Covid-19,” noted Bagalana.
