Buffaloes win Kitaka Sevens, Betway Kobs finish third

Betway Kobs hosted a unique kind of Sevens event last weekend with most of the action played under floodlights. The event, unlike the rest on the national sevens calendar, ran for two days.

At the end of the two days, Toyota Buffaloes edged Black Pirates 5-0 to win the event and ensure the title is decided on the final day of the championship.



Buffaloes scored early in the first half of the final game and would later put up a defence clinic to deny table leaders Pirates. Pirates' frustrations lasted the whole game as their late surge bore no positives.

The Buffaloes' win was their second circuit of the year and incidentally, even their first win was at Legends, making it a good hunting ground for the Kyadondo outfit.



The win also meant that the overall winner of the championship would be decided on the last day at the Kyadondo Floodlights Sevens.

Betway Kobs, who were the host club, lost to Buffaloes in the semi-final but would later settle for third place with a comprehensive pummelling of Hima Cement Heathens.



Edmund Tumusiime's charges defeated Heathens 33-05 in a one-sided third place playoff to stay in the title race. Jinja Hippos defeated Shell Rimula Rhinos 17-10 to claim fifth place.

In the ladies' category, Entebbe ladies came up top, defeating all their opponents on the way to Cup glory. They defeated Thunderbirds 10-00, Black Panthers 15-05 and Black Pearls 12-07 to clinch the cup.
