It is that time of the year when clubs compete for silverware in the short version of the rugby game.
The national Sevens series kickoff Saturday at Kyadondo Rugby Grounds and defending champions Black Pirates, Toyota Buffaloes, Betway Kobs and league winners Hima Cement Heathens will all be looking to start on the front foot.
The Uganda Rugby Union announced that, like last year, the 2019 National Rugby 7s series will be kicking off at Kyadondo Rugby Club and hosted by last year's runners up Toyota Buffaloes.
Defending champions Pirates made ground from the word go last year as they lifted the cup at Kyadondo.
Pirates, who won at Kyadondo, in Jinja and at Legends didn't have to scoop all the circuits to come out victorious at the end of the season.
Appearance in the later stages of the other circuits was just enough for the Sea Robbers to win the title and seal the treble that year.
Betway Kobs will be looking to bounce back and claim the title they had dominated before Pirates' triumph.
Kobs won in Mbarara last year but couldn't collect enough points to win the cup at the end of the season.
Masaka town and Mbale will be the new hosts this year as the Rugby Union looks to take the game across the country.
With the Africa Gold Cup not happening this year, clubs will be expected to have their full squads at their disposal.
