Adraa-Masaba Combo Off To Stalemate Amidst Technical Changes

Whether the coaching pair of Leo Adraa and Simeon Masaba take permanent charge of technical matters at Onduparaka remains to be seen.

What is certain however is that history will judge the pair as having guided the club to a goalless draw in the immediate aftermath of coach Livingstone Mbabazi’s temporary departure at the club.

With the club having announced the hirtheto head coach’s departure earlier in the day, the task to help end the club’s two-game losing sequence lay squarely on the duo in the game against relegation-threatened UPDF.

Tensions had also been high after the club lost its unbeaten record at the Betway Greenlight stadium to SC Villa over the weekend. They were boosted by the return of club captain Rashid Toha who had not started a league game since the 2-1 away win at Express back in October.

The coaching pair also gave experienced midfielder Oscar Agaba his debut following the continued absence of Ivan Mbowa with an injury.

Upfront, young striker Ezra Bida got the nod ahead Karim Ndugwa. That, however, was not enough to bring all three points as the hosts who are fighting relegation held out for a goalless draw.

The result moved Onduparaka to 30 points from 21 games and level with fifth placed Maroons who have a better goal difference ahead of another two-week break.

They next play bottom side Masavu at the Betway Greenlight Ground on March 31.

Onduparaka management is meanwhile expected to come out with an official statement as soon as possible in regard to the club’s head coaching role.

Villa lead the table with 43 points, 13 ahead of Onduparaka who are sixth.
