2019 Australian Open
14-27 January 2019
Melbourne Park, Victoria, Australia
Novak Djokovic will go in search of the 2019 Australian Open title when the tournament gets underway at Melbourne Park on Monday, 14 January.
The Serbian is a fan favourite ‘Down Under’ and has won this Grand Slam no less than six times: 2008, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2015 and 2016.
Novak Djokovic lost in the fourth round of last year’s Australian Open.
However, his 2018 Australian Open ended in the fourth round when he was beaten 7-6 7-5 7-6 by South Korean Chung Hyeon.
Yet the remainder of the year was a good one for the 31-year-old, who claimed both the Wimbledon and US Open titles, and also finished 2018 as the number one ranked men’s singles player in the world.
Novak Djokovic is a six-time Australian Open winner.
The right-hander enters the 2019 tournament as the top-seeded player and his great record at Melbourne Park makes him one of the clear favourites for the title.
Fans will hope to see Djokovic come up against his traditional foes Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal in the course of the tournament, though the likes of Alexander Zverev and Kevin Anderson will also pose major threats to the 14-time Grand Slam champion.
