The Greatest Sports Dynasties

In the world of sport, greatest is often proven to be hereditary. Whether it be a genetic predisposition or an insiders track on how to excel where others fail, sporting greatness has run in families from the Williams sisters to the Peyton brothers.

Michael and Ralf Schumacher

Michael Schumacher dominated the sport of Formula One for almost two decades. During his illustrious career, Schumacher won an incredible 91 F1 races and seven F1 Championships. Although not quite able to live up the legend of his brother, Ralf Schumacher has not languished in Michael’s shadow. He has won 6 F1 races over his career making the Schumachers the only brothers to ever both win F1 races.

Serena and Venus Williams have dominated women’s tennis for almost 20 year. Not only have both sisters won numerous individual honours but they have also consistently blown the competition away as doubles partners. The pair have won Grand Slam Doubles at the Wimbledon and the Australian, French, and US Opens. Although Venus is one of the sport’s greats in her own right, Serena Williams is considered by many to be the greatest women’s tennis players of all time.

Peyton and Eli Manning

When it comes to the NFL, teams rise and fall on the shoulders of their quarterbacks and few in the league have broader shoulders than Eli and Peyton Manning. Between them, the Peyton bothers have won four Super Bowls and secured 3 Super Bowl MVP titles. Eli and Peyton are also just the latest in the line of the Manning dynasty with their quarterback father Archie having made the Pro-Bowl twice before retiring. It really is anyone’s guess what the next generation of Mannings could bring to the NFL.

Gary and Phil Neville

Gary and Phil Neville have a combined 144 appearances for England and 905 appearances in the Premier League. During the careers, the brothers won the Premier League 14 times and the UEFA Champions League 3 times. It is, as a result, fair to say that the Neville brothers have had as big an impact on English football than any in history.
