Five to bolster squad as Bbosa makes Express return

Wasswa Bbosa started work at the Betway Muteesa II Stadium on Tuesday as club head coach after replacing George Ssimwogerere who parted ways with the club this week.

The gaffer who also in his second stint as head coach of the club having left in 2016 is expected to strengthen his squad in his first major decision since being appointed.

“We shall improve the team where our brothers who departed might not have handled well and also build on the positives they left behind.”

“I have looked at the players’ fitness and it is one of the areas where we need to improve,” Bbosa said after taking charge of his first training session Tuesday.

Up to five slots are still available and are expected to be taken with forward Baker Lukooya among the players that have been training at the club.

The diminutive attacker has been without a club since leaving Kenyan side AFC Leopards last year but previously played for Tooro, KCCA, Bright Stars and the now defunct Kira Young

Others include midfielder Mahad Kakooza, Musa Mukasa, Isa Lumu and Arthur Kiggundu who like Bbosa would all be returning to the club having featured during Bbosa’s reign between 2013 and 2016.

The quartet also played under him at SC Villa and Tooro where resigned last year.

Lukooya and Kakooza’s additions would greatly boost the team’s creativity with the pair able to play in a number of forward positions.

Mukasa, Lumu and Kiggundu who started the season at Tooro meanwhile bring a wealth of experience that will shore up the defence that has conceded a joint league high 33 goals.

This has left the Red Eagles languishing in 13th position on the 16-team log with 21 points just one ahead of Bright Stars who occupy the third and final relegation spot and are in action on Wednesday.

Bbosa’s on the other hand will be in charge of his first game on Friday when the team travels to Arua to play Onduparaka.
