2019 Women’s World Cup final
United States vs Netherlands
Sunday 7 July 2019
Parc Olympique Lyonnais, Decines-Charpieu
Kick-off 18:00
United States coach Jill Ellis will look to guide her team to Women’s World Cup glory at the final against Netherlands at Parc Olympique Lyonnais, Decines-Charpieu on Sunday.
Ellis took the Americans to the WWC title in 2015 (their first since 1999) and now looks set to consolidate a truly great legacy by become the first two-time
World Cup winner as a coach since Italy’s Vittorio Pozzo in the men’s tournament in 1934 and 1938.
"We’re here for one thing, and that’s to win the trophy. Everything we talk about and focus on is about that,” said Ellis following the semifinal win over England."
“When you are the premier team in the world, you’re always going to have noise and external stuff. But we have a unique way of making sure that everything is about the game plan and preparation."
“The conversations I hear from the players are really about the game, which is exciting as a coach. They’re professionals, that’s the best way to sum it up."
Ellis added, “
We’ve had less days of rest than probably anyone, and the hardest route to a final that a team has maybe ever taken. But we found a way, and I attribute that to the mental strength."
