Wimbledon is the oldest tennis tournament in the world. It was first played at the All England Croquet and Lawn Tennis Club in 1877.

Wimbledon was televised for the first time on June 1937 by BBC.

2013 was the first year that American audiences were able to watch every single Wimbledon match on ESPN. The coverage has previously been shown by NBC who only selected specific games to broadcast. To mark the occasion, the Championship Trophies were displayed in America marking it the first time they had ever left the Wimbledon grounds.

American Taylor Dent holds the record for the fastest serve at a Wimbledon Championships with a 148mph serve in 2010. Venus Williams holds the record for fastest serve by a woman at 129mph.

Martina Hingis was the youngest (man or woman) Wimbledon champion ever. At just 15 years and 282 days, she won the women’s double title with her partner Helena Sukova in 1996.

In 2017, Roger Federer became the oldest man to win a Wimbledon singles title in the modern Era at 35 years and 11 months. However, the oldest man to ever win a Wimbledon singles title is Arthur Gore who won in 1909 at 41 years and 182 days.
