The Los Angeles Lakers and the Brooklyn Nets will have an
NBA Regular Season showdown when they meet at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on the morning of 19 February 2021.
The Lakers have been in ominous form of late, notably recovering a 20-point deficit to defeat the Memphis Grizzlies this past weekend and rack up a seventh straight win. Kyle Kuzma scored 20 points for the NBA champions but admits they should never find themselves in such a predicament given the talent on their roster.
“There's a little frustration," Kuzma said. "We should never be down 20 points at any point in time with the personnel that we have on our team. But we’ve been through the fire, and we know how to walk people down. We've been having to walk people down a little too much lately.”

The Nets, meanwhile, showed their immense potential with a blowout 134-117 win over the Golden State Warriors this past weekend – a result which serves notice of their ambition to dethrone the Lakers. “I’ve seen him in Chicago at the Push Excel [Basketball Classic], so I’ve seen Isiah do some things that I don’t think a lot of people have seen. So if you want to name Isiah skills-wise, cool. But other than that, it’s hard.”
In head-to-head stats, the Lakers and the Nets have met in 91 Regular Season games since 1976-77. Los Angeles have claimed 65 wins compared to 26 for Brooklyn.
The teams met in two Regular Season clashes in 2019-20, with the Lakers winning the first 128-113 in January 2020, while the Nets claimed revenge with a 104-102 victory in March 2020 which featured 23 points from Spencer Dinwiddie.
